Privacy Policy

This policy describes the limited data connected with Oxnard Residents Directory and the choices available to a visitor. No account is needed, and the reference does not keep a resident record about the person making a search. Search forms, ordinary hosting logs, messages, and outside portals follow the separate rules described below.

Information Sent by a Visitor

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the result. Our own servers do not retain a copy of that search. If a visitor sends a message, the information in that message is used to answer it and no more broadly than needed.

Routine Technical Logs

Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time stamps in ordinary server logs. Aggregate review helps maintain the pages and understand broad use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where used, advertising measurement.

How the Data Is Used

The limited data is used to operate the reference, repair faults, measure traffic, and improve content. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from these logs.

Outside Portals and Links

Pages point to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Once a link is followed, the linked organization’s privacy policy controls the information submitted there. The outside provider of a sponsored result has its own collection, retention, and use practices.

Possible Recipients

Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs while supporting the reference. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure can also occur when valid legal process requires it; it is not made for unrelated purposes.

Security and Retention

The connection uses encryption, and logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require. There are no user accounts, so this reference does not hold a visitor password or profile that could be exposed.

Visitors Younger Than 18

The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Personal information from someone under 18 is not knowingly collected; a parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may use the Contact page to request its removal.

California Privacy Choices

California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., as amended, gives qualifying residents rights to know, access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, use Global Privacy Control, and limit some sensitive-information uses, subject to exceptions. Because the reference keeps little visitor data, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs. Use the Contact page to ask.

The Delete Act, Civil Code §§1798.99.80 et seq., created the state DROP process for registered data brokers. DROP does not delete a deed, court file, tax record, or other government source record. Requests about records held by California, Ventura County, or Oxnard must go to the custodian under the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, or another rule that governs that record.

Policy Changes

When this policy changes, the revised text will be posted here. Continued use after the revision means the updated terms are accepted.
